NZ Pils
Pilsner | 510ml | ABV 5.5%
Quite possibly the least creative name in our arsenal. But we wanted to make it CLEAR. Like what beer could this possibly be? Maybe it has hops from New Zealand? Maybe it's lower ABV? Shot in the dark but it might be lighter to medium body to make the hops POP? Lager yeast? We don't just name our beers with random acronyms and styles. Well, not random anyway. Dry Hopped lovingly and incredibly lightly (5kg into 20BBL) by the POWER OF RIWAKA (yes we changed that up), we're talking danky dank with notes of pineapple, pink grapefruit, papaya and a little herbal action on the back end… a "small" beer that packs it in for a fascinating sensory ride, the Riwaka might be TOO good for this brew. But is this even an NZ Pils? And what exactly is that anyway?
We ran around the hop fields stretching as far as the eye could see and decided on you. The second batch of "NZ Pils" is complete, made with hops from Freestyle Hops, a hop farm that the Hop Dude loves.
In order to fully experience the power of the attractive hops, the hops used are all Freestyle Hops brands. An arrangement was made from the dry hop composition of the previous recipe, and this time, WCB has adopted "Riwaka LM12", which is said to have a particularly strong citrus flavour, from among the multiple lots owned by WCB.
Following the citrus aroma reminiscent of pink grapefruit and lemon, the moderate tropical feeling of pineapple and papaya enhances the grassy and woody nuances. High drinkability, light sweetness and mild bitterness.
And this spring, Mr. D will be traveling to New Zealand again. The beer brewing that we at WCB put all our effort into always begins with an encounter with great hops.
