Indian Summer Saison
Belgian IPA | 330ml | ABV 7.0%
I brewed this beloved saison with plenty of hops to make it last through the summer and into the "Indian Summer" season in late autumn. Saisons were originally brewed from winter to spring during the agricultural off-season for summer farm work. Hops used to improve preservation make this style stand out among Belgian beers.
Some people may have thought that this was a saison IPA from the name, and in that sense, you're almost right. The IBU is set at about 50, a little lower than a regular IPA, but the balance with the dry body is just enough (!?) bitter.
The saison yeast gives it a dryness that doesn't make you feel the alcohol content, and a fruity flavour without being unpleasant. The hops are mainly new varieties from New Zealand and the United States. It has a refreshing aroma reminiscent of blue citrus fruits.
